Crewsure Financial is designed to meet the requirements of the Maritime Labour Convention in the event that crew are abandoned.
Loss of Wages and Repatriation
Repatriation to their home country is covered up to a cost of US$1,500 per crew member, together with 4 months of unpaid wages. We may be able to provide higher limits if required.
Permanent Disability
We provide up to US$175,000 for senior officers, US$150,000 for junior officers and US$100,000 for crew. Paralysis due to illness is also included.
Death by Accident
Cover for death within a year of an accident up to US$175,000 for senior officers, US$150,000 for junior officers and US$100,000 for crew. We will also pay for each legally dependant child under the age of eighteen at the time of death, US$18,400 per child up to a maximum of 4 children.
Medical Expenses
Crew and officers are covered for medically necessary treatment due to accidents or illness for up to US$100,000 per person per insurance year.
We may be able to provide higher limits if required.
All seagoing employees of the policyholder who are suitably qualified and/or licensed.
A condition of this insurance is that the Pre-Employment Medical Examination (PEME) and the certificate of competency or other relevant qualification of an employee are current and up to date and all individual crew details are registered
No deductible applies for abandonment but there is a 21 day waiting period
Criminal offences; suicide; war or war-like situations; biological chemical and/or nuclear chemical and/or nuclear force or contamination; a pre-existing medical condition.
